Guess what? I don’t give a damn, and neither does President Obama. This President is intelligent, smart, savvy, cool and calm, committed to America & Americans. He is a critical thinker, uses common sense, & logic as well as being a first class diplomat. He has signed passed legislation that benefits MILLIONS of Americans and keeps every single “entitlement” in place for ALL Americans.
He has brought home troops from Iraq to be re-joined with families and friends all across America. His leadership has removed terrorist from the planet, as well as reduced al-Qaeda to nothing. His foreign policy and his world standing, thus the standing of America, is at an all time high, so say the polls. So you being “Disappointed, Despondent & Disillusioned With President Obama” really means what exactly?
I continue to hear that people are upset POTUS Obama didn’t do everything he campaigned on in 2008. Name me ONE, just ONE, past POTUS who has accomplished every campaign promise….in his first term? Name me one, please. Name me a past President Of The United States who has achieved 1/3rd of the historic accomplishments Barack Hussein Obama has managed to make reality, against the obstructionists tactics thrown in his path?
To be honest, you who are Disappointed, Despondent, Disillusioned With President Obama, disgust me to my very core. You voted for change, and somehow imagined change would magically deliciously appear over night. The Man has not yet even finished his first term and you are Disappointed, Despondent, Disillusioned With President Obama. Did you think your personal agenda would be the primary concern of the President Of The United States, over his agenda? I, and all of his true supporters, voted for Him to be President, and as such we trust Him to work on His agenda.
Many of you who are Disappointed, Despondent, Disillusioned With President Obama, don’t even have a working knowledge of how the Presidency actually works. You don’t have a clue what goes on in Washington, yet you are Disappointed, Despondent, Disillusioned With President Obama. And I will bet you $10,000 that you are benefiting, in some way, from His agenda right now. And I will also bet $10,000, that you who are Disappointed, Despondent, Disillusioned With President Obama, don’t even know the definition of diplomat OR compromise.
Having never actually been President Of The United States, I put my trust and faith in this Man who has shown me time and time again how His mind works. I support this family man who shows me just how a real man handles adversity, criticism, racism, hatred, jealously, disrespect & doubt…from his so called supporters. When POTUS Obama took the oath of office in January of 2009, he no longer was a Democrat, a Progressive or a Liberal, he became The President Of The United States Of America, ALL America, those who voted for him and especially those who did not.
He no longer had a Progressive agenda, or a Liberal agenda, or a Democratic agenda. His agenda was for ALL of America. That is the real test of a true President. A President is concerned with what is best for the greatest number of American citizens. This is what the Matt Damon‘s, and all the other Disappointed, Despondent, Disillusioned With President Obama, Americans are choosing to forget. A President must do whats best for the greatest number of Americans. Not the least.
The Office Of The President of The United States is not a caucasian office, or a Black office, or a Latino/Hispanic office. It is not a red office, or a blue office, it is not a Progressive office, a Conservative office or a GOP office. It is not a Republican office, or a Liberal office, it is not a Independent office or a left or right wing office.

I watched a President campaign on a public option and then not fight for it. I saw foreclosure relief passed that was a joke and a fraud.
Gitmo remains open and the terrifying laws that allow people to be held without trials or real evidence have only been strengthened. Tax cuts for the wealthy remain while financial oversight for the banks remain a pipe dream that the admin has never really fought for.. I know this President gives not a fuck about me and my vote which for the first time in my 41 years of life will be third party and not democratic. I know he cares not at all, I get that, which is why me and so many like me who normally would be his base, will not cast our vote for this man. If this is the President you want and trust, I applaud you in voting your heart, but to vote this man in simply because we fear the other side more, all that does is keep the fraud alive with no reason to give us more.

Obama was more or less silent during the healthcare debate, the bully pulpit, his most powerful tool was not used. On Gitmo, the President is the commander in chief, no he can not technically defund it, he can however simply order all military personal to leave. He can also fight using that bully pulpit, he could have and should have powerfully made his case, he did not. He has folded time and time and time again where we know, we absolutely know he could have and should have stood firm. Every report I have read on forecloser has lambasted that system as small and highly inn effective while banks continue to abuse and violate the system with no real consequences.
And no, that 3rd party candidate will not get elected, but so again, maybe neither will Obama, not without the progressive base who feel violated.
I am terrified of a GOP President and legislature in all honesty and the Dems are counting on that fear to garner votes. But there has to come a time when you say enough, when you let the party know that you are willing, anxious and hopeful to be able to give your support to it but that there must be a fair return.
Of course it is up to each individual to decide if the party has met that burden. I do not expect miracles nor instant change, I know there are compromises and deals that MUST be made, but there are also values that must be fought for.
There are a lot of unhappy progressives like myself who will not vote Obama, he may well win without us, in truth, I hope he does. But I think there will be an understanding in the party that as long as it countinues to be to the right of Richard Nixon on the issues, it will lose support, evey election.

I found it easy to follow and feel you highlighted the important points regarding complants made by those who expected an immediate change from an administration with eight years of total control of the budget. Bush never put the costs of Iraq and Afghanistan into the budget. There was always a “Supplemental Bill” sent to Congress after the budget was passed, As a result, the Democractic Congress got blamed for overspending. When President O’Bama came into office and did “change” the way things were done, the American taxpayer got a full reading of the costs of the war because he included these costs in the yearly budget, he did not follow the 8 year example of the Bush administaration. He opened the books to the American people and showed them what these costs were WITHOUT hiding them behind a supplemental bill to pay buddies like Blackwater. I have several grandchildren and great grandchildren and would like to follow your writings. Would you please do me a favor. Could you find a word other than the “F” word to express your displeasure with those with whom you violenty disagree. You seem to be so much more intelligent than those who use it.

Thank you! This is probably the best article I’ve read in awhile. I find people’s disappointment quite disappointing. I for one believed, when I voted for president Obama that his “change” would take time, and with naive thinking, thought everyone else that voted for him understood the same. Though there have been moments of me yelling at him through the tv to pull up his big boy pants and stand up against the gop agenda, I have never wavered in my support for him. Your article is a refreshing reminder that we voted him for AMERICA. he IS doing just that and he’s done it pretty damn good, considering what he’s been up against. I’ve several times wished he’d become vicious and attack his attackers, but because he has not, it speaks volumes to me of his integrity as a MAN. thank you again for this reminder! All he needed to do was campaign in a politicians home district, like what he did on the payroll tax cut and they will crumble and he could pass meaningful legislation. Legislation that is not watered down would be great! Perhaps he could of actually reformed wall street instead of writing something watered down, that literally does 2 % of what needed to be done. That would be cool, you know, to have a president that is not a coward, a president that fights back instead of buckles at the first sign of pressure. All agree there is LOTS of room for improvement and that the dominance of Deep Pockedted plutocrats has disemboweled our democratic-republic. What many of our fellow citizens continue to forget is that the president, ANY president, can only put through an agenda that a ‘super-majority’ in Congress will let him initiate. Without funding nothing works in this, or any, country. If we can create a super-majority at the polls, with a Progressive agenda, all the promises of this President are still possible. BEWARE however. We get virtually ‘one shot at this’. Super-majority, one Party rule is a two edged sword. If we get it, and don’t deliver the reform a majority of the VOTERS see benefit from, the cause is doomed for generations. It has to be fought for again and again. the troops weren’t “kicked out”, they left, based on an agreement that was signed during President Bush’s term. He tried to negotiate to have some troops stay longer but Iraq did not want that. What would you have Obama do? Stay in a country that no longer wants us there? Do you think we should be forced to allow troops from another country to stay in America? Who is in charge of Iraq? Not us.
