Dr. King was wrong. We Ain’t overcome yet.
Trayvon Martin, an unarmed African-American teenager, was shot and killed in a gated community in Florida late last month by a white neighborhood watch captain, according to police. But the watch captain, George Zimmerman — a 26-year-old college student who has admitted to police that he shot the young man — still walks free. And Martin’s family is pleading for answers and demanding justice.
At this point there are more questions than answers in the young man’s death, but this much is known: Martin was packing little more than a bag of candy and a canned iced tea on the night he was killed.
“He had a gun, and Trayvon had Skittles,” Benjamin Crump, a family attorney, told The Huffington Post this afternoon.
Martin, 17, a high school junior who lived with his mother in Miami, was visiting his father and stepmother at their home in Sanford, a suburb of Orlando, on the weekend of Feb. 26. During halftime of the NBA All-Star Game, Martin’s family said he walked to a nearby convenience store to get some candy for his younger brother. On his way back home, according to reports, he caught the attention of George Zimmerman, a 26-year-old college student and self-appointed captain of The Retreat at Twin Lakes neighborhood watch.
Zimmerman, armed with a 9mm handgun, trailed the boy in his car. At some point, Zimmerman called 911, telling the operator there was a “suspicious person in the area,” according to a police report acquired by HuffPost.
Not long after the call, some sort of altercation ensued between Zimmerman and Martin. Then neighbors said they heard gunfire.
The Sanford Police arrived and found Martin lying face down on a patch of grass about 70 feet from his family’s home, a pack of candy in one pocket and an iced tea in the other.
Montana Federal Judge Calls President Obama’s Mother a Dog-Fucker
A federal judge in Montana is facing tough scrutiny this week after he forwarded an email containing a joke about Barack Obama’s mother possibly having sex with a dog.
Montana Chief U.S. District Judge Richard Cebull, appointed by George W. Bush in 2001, apologized on Wednesday for sending the mass email to six people, and himself, from his official courthouse email account.
“It was not intended by me in any way to become public,” the judge said. “I apologize to anybody who is offended by it, and I can obviously understand why people would be offended.”
So what did the email say? It’s short, but to the point:
“Normally I don’t send or forward a lot of these, but even by my standards, it was a bit touching. I want all of my friends to feel what I felt when I read this. Hope it touches your heart like it did mine.
“A little boy said to his mother; ‘Mommy, how come I’m black and you’re white?’ His mother replied, ‘Don’t even go there Barack! From what I can remember about that party, you’re lucky you don’t bark!’
Cebull said his brother initially sent him the email, and he then sent it on to six friends and acquaintances. It was eventually forwarded to a reporter at the local Great Falls Tribune.
The judge, while repentant, defended his record saying he was not racist and always has been fair in court.
Case #2: Black While Missing In America
There is a groundswell of criticism growing about the number of Black women who go missing every year. According to the National Crime Information Center, White women are the ones who get the most attention when they go missing.
The FBI reports that in 2010, of the 273,985 minorities reported missing in this country, 85 percent were Black. The Black & Missing Foundation, Inc. (BAM), a non-profit organization whose mission is to bring awareness to a problem, states that most Black women disappear in New York, Georgia, North Carolina, Maryland, and Florida. Since the organization was launched in 2008, it has helped to either locate or bring closure to 71 missing persons cases. This January alone, the organization helped find six people, and all were found alive.
In the meantime, BAM, NewsOne, and TV One have teamed up to bring attention to Blacks who go missing. The partnership has produced a revolutionary series called “Find Our Missing” and is hosted by actress S. Epatha Merkerson, which airs Wednesday nights on TV One. TV One producers are hopeful that the docu-drama will not only zero in on the critical issue of missing Black women but bring new information to light for the loved ones of the victims who disappeared.Derrica Wilson, co-founder, president and CEO of BAM, explains the situation of Blacks who go missing in a press release:
BAM says that there are a number of reasons why law enforcement drag their feet when it comes to diligently working toward solving missing cases involving blacks. We all know that Black and Latinos, or any person of color, who go missing often times do not receive the much needed media coverage, which could drastically increase the odds of their safe recovery.
BAM also points out that another theory for the lag in solving Black missing persons cases is the assumption that the victims are from lower economic conditions and were involved in some sort of criminal mischief.
Whatever the reason for the blatant neglect, Craig Henry of TV One tells Yahoo News:
These are stories, and we immerse you in the lives of these missing people. These are people you get to know, you see their families, see their normal lives, and then one day you learn that they are gone. We want to get people to empathize and get people to care about these stories.
I am sad, and sorry to contradict Rev. Dr. M. L. King, but we have not overcome just yet. All around us racist caucasians are crawling out from the hidden shadows of the woodwork to spew & spread their hatred and nasty envious jealousy toward women & people of color, the elderly and people with disabilities and the many who are members of the Lesbian Gay Bisexual Transgendered community.
We are surrounded with injustice and oppression, not to mention abuse and violence, against American citizens based on difference. Based on religious difference, cultural difference, sexual preference/orientation and the misfortune of being disabled.
We have not overcome. Since the election of Barack Hussein Obama, we Americans have witnessed an onslaught of racist ideology and banter by caucasians who think they are superior. This is a race of people who kidnapped and stole proud African people from the Continent of Africa, to work their fields and care for their children and cook their meals and clean their homes because these “superior” caucasians couldn’t handle the jobs themselves.
Superiority complex refers to an exaggerated feeling of being superior to others. That is the problem of a racist caucasian, he/she believes themselves to be superior. Even though that racist caucasian is incapable of taking care of themselves during slavery times, they fooled themselves into thinking they were the superior race.
Even though their very existence was dependent on Africans, and those Africans competency in learning a new lifestyle and adapting to a new home and new culture instantaneously, caucasians believed themselves to be the superior race.
So allow me to educate each and every one of you racist caucasians….and please, if you are not a racist caucasian, or a white person who oppressed others different than you….do NOT approach me to defend or explain why your fellow caucasians are the way they are. You will get your feelings hurt.
The caucasian race is not superior in any way whatsoever. As I said above, you could not take care of your own lives without the help of the very people you despise. You are an inferior race. You doubt this statement, try this simple experiment. Imagine a world void of the very people you hate and discriminate against. Imagine there are no women, no people of color at all, no elderly, nobody with a disability, and no person who is a Lesbian, or Gay, Transgendered, or Bisexual. Think about how that would impact you and your daily life.
I am sick and tired of all the racist bull shit dished out by a group of racist caucasians who are weak, stupid, ignorant, assbackwards, dumb asses who hide behind white sheets and their guns.
I know why you peckerwods are afraid. I understand your fear. The power is shifting. The single most powerful man on this planet is a Black American named BARACK HUSSEIN OBAMA. President Obama and his Black American family inhabit your White man’s House, a house built by Black American slaves.
You crackers are scared to death you will become that which you created…..slaves.
The Revolution Will NOT Be Televised.
