Dorothy Cooper from Chattanooga, TN knows the importance of voting. She’s been voting in elections for over seventy years, and she doesn’t intend to miss the next one.
But this year the Tennessee legislature passed a law requiring voters to show an ID that they’ve never had to before. And since 2011, over two dozen GOP controlled states have been playing politics with democracy, passing strict new voter ID laws. These laws could make it harder for over 20 million eligible U.S. citizens to exercise their right to vote.
Dorothy was able to obtain her new voter ID, but only after producing five types of identification.

The Republican Party is so insanely extreme right wing that even the Republican Party is aware it cannot possibly win elections without cheating and rigging elections.
I know her frustration. I was born and raised in Chattanooga, TN and I had to deal with the same dilemma as Dorothy Cooper. I think the Republicans aren’t just passing terrible laws to get what they want in the end, I think they do it just to get some sort of sadistic pleasure out of it as well. BUT WE’LL SEE WHO HAS THE LAST LAUGH COME NOVEMBER!

Why on earth does she need to produce a marriage certificate? I don’t remember any laws that say that only married people can vote. This changing of voter rules shows that Republicans are no longer conservatives. They’re just plain bullies who’ll do anything to get their way.

We need the United Nations to monitor this next election! I’m scared. Really scared! The suppression is so overt and it just seems like not much is being done to stop them. i know the DOJ is doing all they can but we need this elections to be monitored by outsiders!
