President Obama fired the opening salvo on Thursday…

In negotiations over the so-called “fiscal cliff.” In a plan presented to Republicans by Treasury Secretary Tim Geithner, the President is asking for $1.6 trillion in new revenue by letting the Bush tax cuts expire on the richest 2% of Americans, and by increasing capital gains and estate taxes, which are mostly paid by very wealthy Americans like Mitt Romney. The President’s plan also calls for more stimulus spending on infrastructure and investments to help struggling homeowners refinance their homes. It also completely does away with the pesky debt-ceiling that Republicans have shown a willingness to exploit to force big spending cuts against the working class.

Under the President’s plan, the automatic spending cuts against social programs and the military will be stopped, but the President is putting up $400 billion in cuts to entitlement programs to be negotiated in…

Since the President took office in 2008, the rate of threats against the president has increased 400% cent. Some threats to the President have been publicized, including the well known alleged plot by white supremacists in Tennessee to rob a gun store, shoot 88 black people, decapitate another 14 and then assassinate the first black president in American history.

Palestinians Celebrate Long Into The Night In Jerusalem.

Palestinians celebrate winning UN status recognition vote

The United Nations last night recognised a sovereign state of Palestine for the first time, sparking scenes of jubilation in the General Assembly and celebrations long into the night in Jerusalem.

An historic resolution that enhanced the Palestinians’position at the UN from “permanent observer” to “non-member observer state”, a status also held by the Vatican, passed the General Assembly by a resounding 138 votes to 9, with 41 countries abstaining, including Britain.

Five nations did not register a vote. The no votes wereUSIsrael, Canada, Czech Republic, Palau, Panama, Nauru, Mirconesia and Marshall Islands.

After the vote, celebrations erupted across Ramallah and Jerusalem, with hundreds waving Palestinian flags and chanting “God is great”.

The vote will not immediately end the Palestinians’ six-decade wait for independence and will not give them a vote at the UN. But it will enable them to join the International Criminal Court and potentially prosecute Israelis for war crimes and seek rulings on territorial disputes at the International Court of Justice.
