Palestinians celebrate winning UN status recognition vote
The United Nations last night recognised a sovereign state of Palestine for the first time, sparking scenes of jubilation in the General Assembly and celebrations long into the night in Jerusalem.
An historic resolution that enhanced the Palestinians’position at the UN from “permanent observer” to “non-member observer state”, a status also held by the Vatican, passed the General Assembly by a resounding 138 votes to 9, with 41 countries abstaining, including Britain.
Five nations did not register a vote. The no votes wereUS, Israel, Canada, Czech Republic, Palau, Panama, Nauru, Mirconesia and Marshall Islands.

After the vote, celebrations erupted across Ramallah and Jerusalem, with hundreds waving Palestinian flags and chanting “God is great”.
The vote will not immediately end the Palestinians’ six-decade wait for independence and will not give them a vote at the UN. But it will enable them to join the International Criminal Court and potentially prosecute Israelis for war crimes and seek rulings on territorial disputes at the International Court of Justice.

Oh I thought that same thing a few years ago. Now I realize I am old.
I celebrate with the Palestinians over this recognition. It’s the first step and the world wants them to be free and prosperous from Israel.
It is shameful the POTUS and The United States Of America is not on board for this. Palestine is the only thing The President and I disagree on.
It is a shame but he is not at fault. This is the US of Israel. They control the world banks which in turn controls this nation and the President, to a major degree. This is one issue he cannot go on his own with. I’m sure he’s working on it.
As I said it’s the only issue he & I disagree on, but I do place blame on his shoulders for his personal stance on Palestine. I fully understand his official U.S. policy and how he has to back Israel publicly for political reasons but privately he can voice his own personal reason against oppression….of any type…..being a Black man and knowing full well how we as a people are oppressed.
But he still have my support & trust, 5000% worth.
