Today, the Senate Judiciary Committee is holding its first hearing on gun violence since the Sandy Hook elementary school tragedy.
The Judiciary Committee is the first step to passing the President’s plan to end gun violence — and, of course, the NRA has gone all-in to stop any sort of common sense reform right here, in committee.
We need committee members to hear the other side of the story. We need them to hear from you.
Will you join over 60,000 DFA members nationwide and sign the petition to pass the assault weapons ban? We’ll deliver it to every single Judiciary Committee member — both in DC and in their home state offices — to show them that Americans want a comprehensive plan to end gun violence.
Pass the assault weapons ban — Sign the petition.
Polls show that the vast majority of Americans support the president’s reforms. Just check out the numbers from the latest New York Times poll:
- Americans support an assault weapons ban 53-44
- Americans support a ban on high-capacity magazines 63-34
- Americans support a national gun database 78-20
- Americans support universal background checks 92-7
These numbers are huge. But even with numbers like these, the NRA will do whatever it takes to stop any sort of common sense reform. That’s why Congress needs to hear your voice on this right now.
Thank you for all that you do.
