Gabrielle Giffords’ Americans for Responsible Solutions Releases First Ad (VIDEO)
Former Rep. Gabrielle Giffords, who was shot in the head in the 2011 Tucson mass shooting, released her first advertisement/PSA today for her gun control Super PAC Americans for Responsible Solutions.
“We have a problem, where we shop, where we pray, where our children go to school,” — “But there are solutions we can agree on, even gun owners like us. Take it from me, Congress must act. Let’s get this done.”
American for Responsible Solutions goals aim to institute universal background checks, reduce high capacity magazine, limit assault rifles and curb gun trafficking. The ad is intended to run for the first time tomorrow night after President Obama’s State of the Union.

NYT: Gabrielle Giffords looked slightly stricken as she considered the question: Would she feel bad about starring in a political advertisement against her former House colleagues who declined to stand with her on guns? “Yes,” she said, it would be painful.
“Sometimes you have to do things that are hard,” said Mark E. Kelly, Ms. Giffords’s husband, as she tucked herself close to him on their couch. Ms. Giffords nodded, as she often does when Mr. Kelly — as he often does — intuits the many thoughts she is still unable to express fully. “Really hard,” she added.
Ms. Giffords, a former Democratic congresswoman from Arizona, a gun owner, an astronaut’s wife, a shooting survivor and an incipient gun-control advocate, is settling into the third act of her public life.

Yeah, I kinda love these two. Mark Kelly is showing the entire globe exactly what love and unconditional commitment looks like. To me, Ms. Giffords is more beautiful after this ordeal than she was before.

On another subject, 2 people are in custody for the murder of our little angel girl in Chicago! I have goosebumps right now. Apparently the shot was meant for a rival gang member..
Yes I read that today. Good old school style Chicago police work. I read last week that she was caught in the gang crossfire. That makes her death even more senseless to me. I am pleased they have suspects, now they need to get suspects in the other 554 homicides the past 15 months has produced in The Windy City.

These young kids join gangs because they lack family and feel family through the gangs. Many young people try to move away and leave the gangs. It is a vicious cycle JB for these kids. My heart breaks for all involved. I sat talking with one kid 5 years ago who had RIP tattoos on both arms for each family member that was killed within gangs. We need to stop the guns, and we need to help our youths before they use a gun!
We can start that process by disbanding the NRAssholes and then working through Congress that is not in the pockets of the gun lobby. Remove the NRAssholes and we’re halfway there. Politicians would pass laws if the NRAssholes were gone.

All of this about Gabbie is wonderful. It has to touch some lives to have the words of a woman who was shot in the head and lived. She isn’t the same woman she was, but it is vital that people understand the damage a bullet can do. Love your background. I have an other painting and a charcoal that I did in the last 4 or 5 blogs. I hope you are doing well. I think you should make a blog of sunshine to send to all of us. LOL. Barbara
