On this day in 1965 Malcolm X was assassinated at the Audubon Ballroom in New York City by members of the Nation of Islam. Malcolm X [born Malcolm Little} was only 39 years old. "The Autobiography of Malcolm X" written with assistance from Alex Haley is a fascinating read as is the recent biography by Manning Marable "The Reinvention of Malcolm X."
