5yrs ago I created Silent Screams to help stir the consciousness of people and move them enough to act on stoping these tragedies of gun violence inflicted upon our children and young adults in Chicago. 5yrs later….over 550 young lives have been killed.

KIYANNA T. SALTER’S HOMEGOING GATHERING
I attended Kiyanna’s homegoing on Monday. I must say, during my journey through life, I have attended many homegoings but this one really touched home.
To see so many young people sobbing uncontrollably illustrated the obvious pain our young people are experiencing. It is a terrible thing to lose a loved one to an automobile accident, or any kind of accident for that matter. But to lose a loved one to avoidable societal problems, it is unacceptable and doubly as hard as an accidental death.
Of course the circumstances of any death are unique, but the reason will always dictate how an individual grieve.
I’m certain if young Kiyanna was struck by an automobile, her family and friends could’ve somewhat understood why she made her transition so soon. But to be cut down simply because two seriously misled individuals were conditioned to hate their black brother, and they felt their safety depended on the ownership of a weapon, we are living in perilous times with no foreseeable vision of change until our young people are once again raised by the entire village.
When the village is raising the child, flaws of the parent/parents will be compensated with love from the village. That compensation is the necessary component needed to adequately monitor our young children at all times. We can no longer depend on governmental agencies or any other agency to raise our children.
WE MUST GRASP OUR YOUTH!!

2,262 Americans fatally shot since Newtown.
That’s 2,262, humans gunned down. In 73 days.
That averages out to 30.98 people a day. On Christmas, 30 Americans were killed by guns. On New Year’s Day, it was 58. On Martin Luther King Day, 28. Last Thursday was a good day — only 13 Americans were shot to death that day.
Click here to see Slate’s utterly breath-taking graphic of the gun-death tally since December 14, the date of the Newtown massacre.

Don’t understand why people are so against this gun control thing…it’s not as if it’s aiming to ban them altogether. Just a common sense approach to responsible, safe gun ownership surely….
You’ll find that many Americans are not responsible, and common sense is not so common.
