Obama Does Some ‘Small Business Saturday’ Shopping

President Barack Obama continued what’s become an annual post-Thanksgiving tradition by stopping at a bookstore for Small Business Saturday. With his two daughters alongside, the President went to Politics and Prose in Washington to pick up a few books, telling reporters he bought a “long list” of titles for every age group, including his own. List of books purchased by Obama, according to the White House:

From Ms. Lynn Sweet:

Valerie Jarrett promotes Small Business Saturday in Hyde Park today

White House senior advisor Valerie Jarrett will tout “Small Business Saturday” in Chicago’s Hyde Park, where she will, as in past years, urge shoppers to buy at local stores. She will be visiting three merchants on Harper Ave. and 53rd, near the block she was raised–which is close to President Barack Obama’s Kenwood home.

From the White House: “This Saturday, November 30th, Senior Advisor to the President Valerie Jarrett will join a number of White House and Cabinet Officials, along with millions of Americans around the country in paying tribute to the small businesses that drive our economy, and serve to define our communities. Taking part in Small Business Saturday, she will make stops at three small businesses in Chicago.”

Thank you Ms. Lynn Sweet.

  1. Your mouth no good !!!

  2. Our POTUS truly is everywhere , isn’t he? Man after my heart shopping for books..Yay! I’m soon going to read , 12 years as a Slave , now that I’ve seen the movie this weekend..Finally! OMG is all I can say..I was emotionally drained(and probably 10 lbs lighter from tears I dropped..) after seeing the movie. A MUST SEE for all Americans; but especially YOC(youth of color)..Or least that is my 2 cents on the topic. I’m trying to work on my lack of brevity; or there is quite a bit more I could say. But I won’t(for now..)

    • This year has been a good year for Black films, Fruitvale Station, Django, The Butler, Best Man, 12 Years. I like seeing Black folks working.

      • True…Just today had a conversation about how many Black films came out this year..I had no interest in seeing Django though..But I’ve still got to see Best Man & the soon to be released Mandela..Have you watched him in , Luther? He’s one of my fave actors!

      • Django was magnificent, I suggest U rum to see Jamie Foxx kick some caucasian ass….very different “slave” film. I highly recommend it be seen by every Black person.

      • Watched who in Luther?

  3. Love this picture~

    • Good morning, glad you love this picture…he truly is a man of the people don’t you think? I hope you are enjoying a safe fun happy weekend. ;-)

    • Thank you for your support of the blog too, I appreciate you visiting.

  4. I wonder if he used the self-service checkout and get annoyed when it said “please place the item in the bag” hehe.

Glad that he goes to these places. Shows that he is a human being and willing to talk to other humans

    • I say this all the time, he is the best President in my 54 years of life. He is humane, down to earth, a common person who was raised by a single mom & grandmom. He comes from the people & didn’t get “money” until he was elected President and wrote 2 books.
