On Tuesday morning, the President and the First Lady arrive in Johannesburg, South Africa. Their arrival to the Waterkloof Air Force Base is open press.

 

Later in the morning, the President will attend and deliver remarks at the National Memorial Service for Former South African President Nelson Mandela. The First Lady will also attend the service at First National Bank Stadium in Johannesburg, South Africa. This event is open to pre-credentialed media.

 

In the evening, the President, the First Lady and the traveling delegation will depart Johannesburg, South Africa en route Washington, D.C. The departure from the Waterkloof Air Force Base is open press.

  2. This was, no doubt, one of the largest funerals in the history of the world. The world can hold Mandela up as a model. Barack and Michelle make me proud.

  3. I said to Celestine today (not sure if you know her – reading pleasure – I was going to say that the rain didn’t keep them away, but changed it to “Even the heavens cried at his funeral” It was a fantastic send off for a one of a kind.
