The shooter, a student, shot himself dead, cops say, after the shooting Friday in Colorado. The gunman reportedly was targeting a specific teacher, who fled the school, cops say. Another student received minor injuries.
A gunman opened fire in Arapahoe High School at about 12:30 p.m. M.T. The Associated Press quoted a hospital spokesman who said one student was in critical condition. There are other reports that two have been killed. CNN just reported that one student shot is in critical condition and the other student suffered minor injuries.
At least two students were injured and the suspect is dead after a shooting at a Centennial, Colo. high school on Friday afternoon.
The shooter was a student at Arapahoe High School, where he shot at least one of his classmates who remains in serious condition. Another student has an undisclosed, minor injury. The suspect shot himself dead, police said.
The shooter reportedly was targeting a specific teacher, police say, and asked for the teacher by name. The teacher fled, cops say.
“We are slowly and methodically clearing the school to make sure the students are safe,” Sheriff Grayson Robinson told the media around 3:45 p.m. Each student is being frisked as they exit the school.
“No weapons were found other than the one that was used in the shooting,” a shotgun, Robinson said.
The wounded student is reportedly 15 or 16-years-old and was shot in the head. Cops have identified the shooter but have not released his name.
About 2,200 students attend the school in the Denver metropolitan area.
The shooting reportedly happened about 12:30 p.m. (Mountain Time) in the school’s cafeteria, the Denver Post reports.
“From what I have heard they have one of the shooters down (not sure how many are involved), kids are being released but there are still kids on lock down in the school,” Kelsie Lambeth, a school alum whose sibling attend the school, tells the Daily News. “Police and other first responders are there.
“My little brother is still in the school, my sister is safe, and my dad is acting as a first responder.”
The school is about 8 miles from Columbine High School where two students killed 13 people and themselves in 1999. It’s about 20 miles from Aurora, Colo., where a gunman opened fire on movie-goers, killing 12 and injuring dozens.
You think this lone gunman and his attack on schoolmates one day before The Sandy Hook Elementary School Massacre is a coincidence?
Yeah, me either.
This is the 28th school shooting this year….thats TWENTY EIGHTH.
Guns don’t kill people….a Congress scared to enact comprehensive gun reform does kill people.
