Would you want your child — or a classmate — to be able to buy a gun on Facebook?
That’s exactly what happened in Kentucky. A teenager bought a 9mm handgun from a stranger on Facebook and brought it to his Greenup County High School homecoming game.
Thankfully, no one was hurt and the seller is facing criminal charges this month.
But Facebook continues to let strangers buy and trade guns with no oversight, allowing guns to fall into the wrong hands.
This Thursday, Moms Demand Action volunteers plan to deliver more than 100,000 petition signatures calling on Facebook to prohibit all gun sales. Add your name now to make your signature part of the delivery.
As a mother of five, my heart aches at the thought that any one of my kids can easily log into Facebook and find someone willing to illegally sell them a gun.
Facebook can prevent this nightmare from coming true again. Other companies, including Craigslist, Google+ and eBay, already prohibit gun sales. That’s what we’ve been telling them in our recent meetings, and that’s what we’ll remind them when we deliver our petition with your signature.
We’re delivering the petitions in just three days. And we need as many signatures as possible to show Facebook that we mean business. Your name will make a difference.

I’ll keep you up to date on our negotiations with Facebook. Our hope is they do the right thing and end this social media gun show for good. But until then, we need to keep the pressure on.
Thanks for speaking out,
