“As the gun lobby convenes in Indianapolis, there’s a new posse in town. They’re mothers, they’re survivors of gun violence, and some of them are both. And they’re dead set on disarming the NRA of its outsize political power.”
– “The NRA Meets Its Potent New Foe: Moms,” Mother Jones

This weekend, the NRA came to my home town of Indianapolis for their annual convention, and I couldn’t be more proud of what they saw.

Hundreds of moms, dads, survivors and concerned citizens gathered together to share a simple message: The extreme policies being pushed by the NRA’s leaders don’t represent the majority of Americans — or the majority of NRA members!

The NRA saw firsthand what a formidable opponent they have in supporters like you.

Check out some photos from the NRA Convention, and please make a donation today to support our efforts to take on the Washington gun lobby in the year ahead.

The NRA’s leadership reacted as we knew they would — with fear-mongering and intimidation.

While addressing the crowd inside the convention center, NRA Executive Vice President Wayne LaPierre said “Freedom has never needed our defense more than now…So I ask you this afternoon — do you trust this government really to protect you and your family? We’re on our own. That’s a certainty.”

LaPierre’s vision of America couldn’t be further from our own. Instead, we stand together, firmly united by the knowledge that common-sense gun laws, like background checks for all gun sales, go hand-in-hand with protecting the freedoms outlined in the Second AmendmentAnd we know that all Americans deserve the freedom to live without fear of gun violence.

We’re going to make sure that 2014 is a historic year for the gun violence prevention movement. We’ll keep on fighting for common-sense reforms, and we’re ready to elect leaders who share our vision.

You can help us continue to take on the NRA and amplify the stories of gun violence survivors and family members. Please make a donation today to support our work in the year ahead:

Give to Everytown and Help Save Lives

This past weekend, hundreds of supporters came together at the NRA Convention in Indianapolis to share a simple message: All Americans deserve the freedom to live without fear of gun violence.

These remarkable events wouldn’t have been possible without donations from our network of grassroots supporters. Your generous donation can help us work to save lives by:

  • Pressuring lawmakers to improve our gun laws
  • Raising awareness about gun violence
  • Educating the public about common-sense gun laws and responsible gun ownership
  • Mobilizing grassroots supporters
  • Connecting and amplifying the voices of survivors of gun violence

We Are Everytown for Gun Safety

Everytown is a movement of Americans working together to end gun violence and build safer communities. Gun violence touches every town in America. For too long, change has been thwarted by the Washington gun lobby and by leaders who refuse to take common-sense steps that will save lives.

But something is changing. More than 1.5 million mayors, moms, cops, teachers, survivors, gun owners, and everyday Americans have come together to make their own communities safer. Together, we are fighting for the changes that we know will save lives.

Everytown starts with you, and it starts in your town.
