If “I” Were God…….

Every parent, family friend, babysitter or caregiver that leaves a child, toddler, baby, kid, infant, pet of any type….in a hot car in summer, unattended, for more than 30 seconds….would experience their genitals seize up and become set afire to reproduce the exact temperature of that vehicle that the moron in question, left the child, toddler, baby, kid, infant, pet of any type…..IN. In other words your crotch, penis, balls, vagina, would reach the temperature of 170° in seconds.

If “I” Were God…….

Any human responsible for lying 935 times to the American people, and in particular the stupid mindless drones who inhabit CongrASS, about the original wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, if these lying dumbasses were to ever open their mouths to offer “opinions and advice” to the current POTUSA….I’d immediately fill those mouths with camel feces. On camera. After which they would instantaneously be transported to Iraq to be face to face with a group of ISIS idiots.

If “I” Were God…….

John Boehner would have a 4 inch penis growing from the middle of his forehead so he could jerk himself off instead of the American citizens whom he is supposed to work FOR, as his oath of office states, and not the Koch Brothers, special interest groups such as A.L.E.C., the NRAssholes or alcohol distributors.

If “I” Were God…….

Harry Reid would have a pair of nuts growing from his chin, big, hairy, full balls, He would then possess what he lacks, so he could stand up on the Senate floor and fight for what THIS Black President needs from his number one Congressional point man. Instead of acting like a frightened 4 year old confronted with the monster under the bed.

If “I” Were God…….

Michele Bachmann, Sarah Palin, Ann Coulter, Pat Boone, Donald Trump, Joe Arpaio, Ted Nugent, Rush Limbaugh and a few others, they know who they are, would come see Me. Soon. They would not stay up here but for a few seconds as I read from the book of major fuck ups…..but I’d have them all visit Me before their final destination.

If “I” Were God…….

Elizabeth Warren would have a moment of complete clarity and realize the reason I put her down there, among the lost souls in the Senate, was so she could gain the necessary tools to become the first Female President Of The United States. Much why I inserted Barack into the Senate back in 2004. Get in the game Elizabeth….you know why I choose you. I got this, you have bigger loaves to share and fish to fry.

Hillary Clinton and William Jefferson Clinton would vanish. On that same disappearing bus would be Tricky Tiny Dick Cheney, Lyin Still Unfitt Mitt Romney, Chuck Todd, Jake Tapper, Don Lemon, The Entire Fox News Staff, Wolf Blitzer, The Morning Joe folks, The Entire Fox News Staff, (did I say that already) The Koch Brothers, Millionaire mooks who believe money buys elections, and the following dumbasses: John McCain, Lindsey Graham, Louie Gohmert, Mitch McConnell, Mark Rubio, Ted Cruz….I already took care of that Cantor moron. I keep Chris Christie around cause ya’ll still need some comedic relief.

If “I” Were God…….

The 300 plus young Nigerian girls would be united with their families and the Boko Haram cowards who abducted them, would all be captured and sold into slavery, forced kicking & screaming into made marriages to men who care not what orifice they violate and used as indentured servants on a Clive Bundy spread.

ANYone who utters the word “Impeachment” would immediately have his/her colon stuffed with fire ants and bed bugs….because dumbfuckery must be met with extreme pain and suffering when spread against MY chosen one, the anointed Barack Hussein Obama, and his immediate White House staff. Oh yeah, the word suit against Barack, will bring down upon it’s instigators a complete darkening of the skin to the tone of Black Strap Molasses.  You sue My Anointed One, yo do so as a Negro.

If “I” Were God…….

The very next human whom violates all My rules of creation and goes on a shooting rampage, will be guided, by Me, to the nearest rally and campaign event held by the NRAssholes, he will then proceed to shoot and kill all NRAsshole hierarchy and leadership executives. Or, if I’m that kinder, gentler God you speak of, I’ll just resurrect the original members of the Black Panther Party and send them into local Target stores armed with semi automatic rifles and THEN you will see some gun reform laws take effect on the chickenshit Senate/House floor.

Cause nobody wants to see Negro’s armed with the exact same weapons you now see caucasian dumbasses carrying in public places where there are children……do you.  If “I” Were God.

Gun Activists With Assault Rifles Harass Marine Veteran On Memorial Day. God Almighty I Wish This Was Me.

I have felt a somewhat mean angry nasty spirited emotion over take me the past week. I seem to have reached a brick wall reinforced by old Pittsburgh steel when it comes to my already very low tolerance for dumbfuckery from dumbassgunmorons.

I would gladly have switched places with this Marine Vet & been face to face with these gun toting no military service idiots, with a much different outcome than the one we see here with this Veteran.

00000000000000000000000000000000000000peace5

From Mother Jones:

Gun Activists With Assault Rifles Harass Marine Veteran on Memorial Day.

“Are you gonna cry? Sounds like you’re about to cry.” Watch armed men pursue a vet through downtown Fort Worth.

On Memorial Day this week, a former Marine in Texas named James got a couple calls from friends who’d spotted an unusual gathering in downtown Fort Worth: Roughly a dozen people, mostly men, were hanging out in the middle of the city’s cultural district, armed with semi-automatic rifles. James quickly knew what his friends were describing, having recently encountered an open-carry demonstration himself in the Dallas-Fort Worth area. An independent TV commercial producer who sometimes films live events, James headed downtown with his camera to get some footage.

Gun Activists Harass Marine Veteran

What he saw there struck him as especially provocative. Not only had the open-carry activists come to a typically relaxed, family friendly part of town, they were displaying intimidating firearms just three days after a major gun massacre in Southern California. What he didn’t anticipate was that they would soon be pursuing him for several city blocks with cameras of their own, harassing him and later posting the footage online, where they would also level homophobic slurs and violent threats against him.

Women who speak out have been the primary target for gun activists, as I detailed in a recent investigation. But now, on a day meant to honor fallen service members, a military vet would make the hit list.

James, who asked that his last name not be used, knows his way around guns. He served for four years in the US Marines infantry, where he earned several awards for marksmanship. He is a gun owner, he told me, and a strong supporter of the Second Amendment and concealed-carry rights. But while carrying rifles publicly is legal in Texas, he felt that these guys—supporters of a movement that seeks to legalize the open carrying of handguns—were crossing a line.

“I’ll be happy to smash assholes like him,” said one gun activist online. “Who here wants to help ruin him?” said another.

The men, members of the groups Open Carry Texas and Open Carry Tarrant County, asked him which news network he was with. When he said he wasn’t, things began turning frosty. They pressed him about what he thought of their demonstration, and he replied with an unvarnished opinion that included profanities, language he told me he regrets having used.

“I’m all for responsible gun owners,” he says. “What I was taught was not to wear it around like a gold chain. What they’re doing is irresponsible. It intimidates the public, and people have just as much right to be comfortable in their public environment as these guys have a right to own their firearms.”

Suddenly he was surrounded by about a half-dozen armed men. They started badgering him with questions and accusing him of being anti-American. “I said, ‘Are you kidding me? I served in the military.’ They were trying to intimidate me, and when I didn’t cower that upset them,” he said. But he was starting to feel nervous and decided to disengage and walk away.

In a video obtained by Mother Jones that was posted online later that day by one of the activists, the group can be seen pursuing and harassing James through downtown Fort Worth. “I’m following this guy around,” declares one of them, setting off after him with his weapon slung across his back. He and others stay right behind James for several city blocks, following him through traffic and taunting him along the way. James grows more agitated and tells them off, calling them assholes and bullies.

“We’re being polite, you’re calling people names,” one of the gun activists pursuing him says.

“You’re not being polite out here with assault rifles the weekend after people lost their children,” James retorts, before again trying to walk away.

The harassment continues down the street. “Are you gonna cry?” one says. “Sounds like you’re about to cry.” Another says: “What’s wrong with that guy—is he a liberal?

“Yeah,” the other replies.

“Big time?”

“Yeah.”

Eventually they follow him to a parking lot (where, in the background, there just so happens to be a Chipotle). As James gets into his vehicle, the gun activists zoom in on his company’s name and contact info appearing on the side of his truck, as well as his license plate, vowing to post it all online.

After the video went up on YouTube and Facebook, James pushed back in the comments sections, only to be met with increasing hostility.

“That guy obviously thinks he’s a badass talking shit to armed citizens,” one gun activist said. “When [the shit hits the fan] I’ll be happy to smash assholes like him.”

When one of the guys who’d followed him suggested posting the video to multiple sites, another said they should “put really gay background music to it.”

“He wasn’t Marine Corps infantry,” declared another. “Or he got out due to ‘don’t ask don’t tell.’ What a fruit.”

“Who here wants to help ruin him?” said another.

The footage the group posted was not the first such effort to intimidate by exposing someone’s personal information: As I reported recently, in April members of Open Carry Texas outed a concerned schoolteacher who had called police in Plano, Texas, and she was soon hit with a barrage of harassment and violent threats by phone and email. James faced similar treatment this week, he told me, with harassers saying he was a “fucking faggot” and “this guy needs his jaw broken.”

James shared his story only reluctantly, but he is also adamant, he says, that what the gun activists are doing is wrong. And he’s far from alone in that view: He has since also received many positive calls and messages of support, he says—including from a couple of vocal open-carry supporters, one of whom invited him to go to a firing range together.

After multiple rejections from corporate restaurants and a wave of negative publicity, several Texas open-carry groups put out a joint statement last week asking their supporters to dial back the provocative tactics. Some hardcore followers balked at that, but now even some rank and file gun activists have expressed doubt in online comments about this latest incident. “Following him makes you the bad guy and could be considered intimidation,” one said. A member of Open Carry Texas—who himself participated in that group’s intimidation tactics against women—also disapproved of the footage, or at least of its public airing. “Nothing about this video benefits our movement,” he said.

When I was in basic in my branch of the military, we were taught in the first month of that experience how to disarm anyone who was unfriendly. Be they armed with a K-Bar or toting a SG 550. We were taught that no matter the weapon, if an enemy was within reach of us physically, he could be disarmed in 4.5 seconds if we recruits learned what we were being taught.

I wish an asshole who imagines he/she has an advantage over anyone because he/she is armed, would approach me in the exact same manner as these 11th graders approached this Marine Vet.

I am against guns. PERIOD. The 2nd amendment is a racist joke, and should be repealed yesterday. NO human should have any weapon more deadly that a Louisville Slugger. Guns should be, must be, removed from any sane intelligent civil society.

I own guns, and I own a concealed carry permit and have been licensed since 1985 when I returned home from my 9 years in hell for Uncle Sam. With relatives like Uncle Sam, you never need enemies. I carry daily when I am in the street, you could never tell that just by looking at me or talking to me.

The second guns are outlawed I’ll be the 2nd person in line to turn my weapons in….never be the 1st to do anything (another military lesson from my CO).

On July 13th of 2013 when George Zimmerman was labeled not guilty, I re-purchased 7 weapons to replace the 7 I had given up the week after the Sandy Hook Elementary School Massacre. I couldn’t with good mind keep guns if I hated them so much, and that Sandy Hook slaughter turned my resolve to carry or hold weapons.

Then George Zimmerman was set free. That changed my resolve to be unarmed.

I said all that to say this….this video is prime proof why dumbass Americans do not need firearms, including me.

I should not have weapons and neither should any human, no matter how well trained, or how well experienced in the use of firearms.

Before you open your mouth to say “2nd amendment” read this, then shut the fuck up and go sit the fuck down…..

Guns. Some Guns. More Guns. Gun News. The 2nd Amendment.

People like these cretins in this video are why no human that breaths oxygen or bleeds red blood, should ever have a weapon. Had that been me instead of “James”, we’d all have been on the 6 O’clock news.

With them dead, and me facing prison because Stand Your Ground was not created for a Black American. Nor is it allowed to be used as a defense option during trial.

Have a happy weekend.

Richard Martinez, the father of 20-year-old UCSB shooting victim Christopher Martinez, attacked the NRA and guns in a heartbreaking speech at a press conference this afternoon.

“Our son Chris Martinez and six others are dead,” Martinez said. “Our family has a message for every parent out there: You don’t think it will happen to your child until it does.”

Richard Martinez is right.

His son Christopher was shot and killed in Santa Barbara after our representatives in Washington failed — again and again and again — to fix our broken gun laws.

They failed to take comprehensive action after Columbine. After Virginia Tech. After Tucson. After Fort Hood. After Aurora. And as Mr. Martinez said, “My kid died because nobody responded to what happened at Sandy Hook.”

We cannot stand by and do nothing while 86 people die every day from gun shots. Not One More person should die because our elected officials failed to fix our broken gun laws.

Weekly Address: Congress Needs to Act on Minimum Wage

In this week’s address, the President highlights small business owners across the country acting to raise wages for their workers, and calls on Congress to give America a raise so more hard-working Americans have the opportunity to get ahead.

What $10.10 Would Mean For Your State. Raise The Wage.

In this year’s State of the Union addressPresident Obama called on Congress to raise the federal minimum wage from $7.25 to $10.10 an hour.

That would benefit more than 28 million workers — helping families across the country make ends meet.

But exactly how would it help? We’ll show you.

unnamed

In his State of the Union address, President Obama called on Congress to raise the national minimum wage from $7.25 to $10.10 an hour, and soon after signed an Executive Order to raise the minimum wage to $10.10 for the individuals working on new federal service contracts.

Raising the minimum wage nationwide will increase earnings for millions of workers, and boost the bottom lines of businesses across the country. Learn more below, and share this page with your friends and family.

Raising the federal minimum wage would not only benefit more than 28 million workers across the country, but 19 million workers from all types of households would see a direct increase in their wages

minimum_wage_pie_chart_05

Today, the real value of the minimum wage has fallen by nearly one-third since its peak in 1968. And right now, a full-time minimum wage worker makes $14,500 a year, which leaves too many families struggling to make ends meet.

Raise The Minimum Wage: Barack Speaks At Michigan University, Ann Arbor – Full Speech.

Obama Speaks At Michigan University, Ann Arbor– Full Speech

Published on Apr 2, 2014

President Obama speaks about raising the minimum wage while visiting the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor.

Add Your Name: America Deserves a Raise

Last Friday, I spoke at a rally in Cleveland about raising the minimum wage. While I was there, I had the opportunity to talk with 11-year-old Jesseca Hudson, who came out to show her support.

Before I’d even boarded my plane back to D.C., she had already emailed me, telling me how she wanted to help in the fight to give millions of workers the wages they deserve.

Jesseca doesn’t think that someone working full-time should struggle to make ends meet. But full-time workers earning the current federal minimum wage of $7.25 only earn about $14,500 a year in wages — below the poverty line for a family of two.

That’s unacceptable. And it’s why the President has called on Congress and state governments to raise the minimum wage to $10.10 an hour — and on businesses to act on their own to increase the pay of their workers.

If you agree, then add your name, and share why you think we need to raise the wage.

040214_perez_emailtopper

Raising the minimum wage to $10.10 will benefit about 28 million workers across the country. And it will help businesses, too — raising the wage will put more money in people’s pockets, which they will pump back into the economy by spending it on goods and services in their communities.

The bottom line: America deserves a raise.

And it’s not just 11-year-olds that understand why it’s a problem that the minimum wage has lost nearly a third of its value since its peak in 1968. Nearly three out of fourAmericans agree we should raise the wage.

If you agree it’s time that we answer the President’s call to increase the minimum wage and reward honest work, add your name and share why.

Thanks for your help.

Three Out Of Four Americans Agree: It’s Time To Raise The Minimum Wage.

Raise The Minimum Wage – ’11 Must-Know Facts About The Minimum Wage’

Raising the minimum wage isn’t just pro-worker; it’s pro-economic growth. Putting money in the pockets of working families, as Henry Ford explained, means they’ll spend it on goods and services, which in turn helps businesses thrive and create more jobs.

Obama At Costco Promotes Higher Minimum Wage

Published on Jan 29, 2014

President Obama notes that Costco pays its workers a higher starting wage and therefor has fewer workers quit, making it a better company. He speaks from a Costco in Lanham, Maryland.

That’s why 75 percent of Americans − including so many business leaders I speak to − support a higher federal minimum wage. That’s why there’s a proud bipartisan history of raising the wage.

The typical minimum wage earner is a provider and a breadwinner – most likely a woman – responsible for paying bills, running a household and raising children. How can we expect her to get by on a wage that, in real terms, isn’t worth as much as it was in the 1950s?

The value of the minimum wage simply hasn’t kept up with the cost of living, including the essentials a family needs to survive: a gallon of milk, a gallon of gas, monthly rent, a pair of children’s shoes and more.

Wages also haven’t kept up with workers’ output. Since 1979, productivity has increased more than 90 percent, but real average hourly earnings have gone up only 3.2 percent.

President Obama believes that income inequality is one of the most pressing matters facing the nation. If we are going to be a country that provides ladders of opportunity and believes in a thriving middle class, then we have to raise the minimum wage.

But don’t take my word for it. In recent weeks, I’ve had the privilege of meeting with many low-wage workers – proud men and women who want nothing more than a fair day’s pay for a fair day’s work. I’ve looked into their eyes and seen their struggle and their sacrifice; their dignity and self-respect.

They wake up every morning and do their jobs. Now it’s time for Congress to do its job. It’s time to give minimum wage workers the raise they need, the raise they’ve earned, the raise they deserve.

baracksays

In the year since I asked this Congress to raise the minimum wage, five states have passed laws to raise theirs.  Many businesses have done it on their own.  Nick Chute is here tonight with his boss, John Soranno.  John’s an owner of Punch Pizza in Minneapolis, and Nick helps make the dough.  Only now he makes more of it: John just gave his employees a raise, to ten bucks an hour – a decision that eased their financial stress and boosted their morale.

Tonight, I ask more of America’s business leaders to follow John’s lead and do what you can to raise your employees’ wages.  To every mayor, governor, and state legislator in America, I say, you don’t have to wait for Congress to act; Americans will support you if you take this on.  And as a chief executive, I intend to lead by example. Profitable corporations like Costco see higher wages as the smart way to boost productivity and reduce turnover. We should too.  In the coming weeks, I will issue an Executive Order requiring federal contractors to pay their federally-funded employees a fair wage of at least $10.10 an hour – because if you cook our troops’ meals or wash their dishes, you shouldn’t have to live in poverty.

Of course, to reach millions more, Congress needs to get on board. Today, the federal minimum wage is worth about twenty percent less than it was when Ronald Reagan first stood here.  Tom Harkin and George Miller have a bill to fix that by lifting the minimum wage to $10.10.  This will help families.  It will give businesses customers with more money to spend.  It doesn’t involve any new bureaucratic program.  So join the rest of the country.  Say yes.  Give America a raise.

Opportunity for All: Key Executive Actions the President Will Take in 2014

The President’s top priority remains ensuring middle class Americans feel secure in their jobs, homes and budgets.  To build real, lasting economic security the President will work with Congress and act on his own to expand opportunity for all so that every American can get ahead and have a shot at creating a better life for their kids.

Raising the Minimum Wage through Executive Order to $10.10 for Federal Contract Workers. The President will also continue to urge Congress to raise the minimum wage to $10.10 across the nation because no one who works full-time should have to raise their family in poverty.

President Obama Speaks At The Oso Firehouse.

By Jueseppi B.

Barack Obama

I’ve observed my share of Presidents in my 54 years and not one comes close to this POTUSA. Not one past President has had the number of natural disasters to contend with that this President has faced. Not one past President has had the number of deaths from gun violence that this President has had to handle. And for sure, not one past President has had to shoulder the sheer hatred because of their skin color. Yet, Barack Hussein Obama loves this country and his citizens.

(CNN) —Calling their grit, resiliency and sense of community an inspiration to all Americans, President Barack Obama promised Tuesday that those impacted by last month’s deadly landslide in Washington won’t be forgotten — least of all by the federal government.

"This is ... what America is all about," Obama said. "When times get tough, we look out for each other. We get each others' backs. And we recover, and we build, and we come back stronger."

“This is … what America is all about,” Obama said. “When times get tough, we look out for each other. We get each others’ backs. And we recover, and we build, and we come back stronger.”

Speaking in Oso, a small community about 60 miles northeast of Seattle that was ground zero for disaster, Obama outlined the ways the government has already helped and will continue to do so. He said that he wanted to visit the area to show support for “families who are searching for loved ones (and) families who have lost everything.”

President Obama Speaks on Responding to the Mudslide in Washington State

“I just wanted to let you know that the country is thinking about all of you, and have throughout this tragedy,” the President said. “We’re not going anywhere. We’ll be here as long as it takes.”

Obama spoke exactly one month the rain-saturated hillside along the Stillaguamish River gave way, unleashing walls of mud that swallowed up roads and homes in and around Oso.

First responders, Washington National Guard members and volunteers quickly converged on the traumatic scene, digging through mud, logs and debris 70 feet thick in some places hoping to find the missing.

Authorities on Monday put the death toll from the landslide at 41, though that number could rise as the search continues.

The President noted that while few knew of Oso before last month, many since have “been inspired by the incredible way that they community has come together and shown love and support that they have for other in ways big and small.” That might include risking their lives volunteering to find neighbors, providing a meal to those on the front lines or offering up chain saws or rain jackets.

“One resident said, ‘We’re Oso, and we just do it,’ ” Obama said after touring the damage and meeting with various people involved in the search-and-rescue operations as well as relatives whose loved ones died.

The debris field is full of toxic sludge, including human waste and toxic chemicals from households, oil and gas, according to Lt. Richard Burke of the Bellevue Fire Department. During the rescue efforts, some workers have come down with dysentery.

The work seems never-ending, and the piles of debris and muck remain high a month after the mudslide.

But thanks to workers’ efforts, water that was 6 feet deep has now drained, making it easier for heavy equipment to navigate the still tricky terrain.

One spruce tree that remained standing after the mudslide is now a memorial to the victims and a source of strength to the workers.

Obama came to Washington state on the way to a four-country tour to Asia. He will stop in Malaysia, where the mystery of Malaysia Airlines Flight 370 and its scores of passengers remains unsolved, and South Korea, where a ferry full of high schoolers collapsed last week.

The President didn’t refer to either of those disasters in his comments Tuesday. But he did laud the response of those in and around Oso for symbolizing what is best his own country.

From The Associated Press:

Striving to show action on jobs, President Barack Obama and Vice President Joe Biden are hitting the road to trumpet $600 million in new competitive grants to spur creation of targeted training and apprenticeship programs that could help people land well-paying jobs.

They were making the announcement Wednesday at the Community College of Allegheny County West Hills Center in the western Pennsylvania borough of Oakdale.

Administration officials say they hear from too many businesses that they cannot find skilled workers for jobs they need to fill. On top of that, officials say many people who are looking for work may be open to learning new skills but need assurance that a job will be waiting for them at the end of a training program.

Obama and others in the administration often say community colleges are among the best sources for job training and say learn-on-the-job apprenticeship programs provide some of the most direct paths to well-paying jobs.

Although the economy is improving, unemployment remains stubbornly high at 6.7 percent and Obama says more must be done to create jobs.

The programs that Obama and his Pennsylvania-born vice president are announcing do not need approval from Congress because they will be paid for with money that lawmakers have already authorized for spending. In response to stiff resistance to his agenda from Republican lawmakers, Obama has made it a goal this year to take smaller steps on his own, without support from Congress, to benefit the economy, workers and others, and Wednesday’s program fits that script.

The larger of the two grant programs will put nearly $500 million toward a job training competition run by the Labor Department that is designed to encourage community colleges, employers and industry to work together to create training programs that are geared toward the jobs employers need to fill. Applications will be available starting Wednesday.

The training is part of an existing competitive grant program for community colleges that prepare dislocated workers and others for jobs.

A priority will be placed on partnerships that include national entities, such as industry associations, that pledge to help design and institute programs that give job seekers a credential that will be recognized and accepted across a particular industry, signaling to an employer what kind of work the holder can do.

The Labor Department is also making an additional $100 million available for grants to reward partnerships that expand apprenticeship programs.

Apprenticeships are used less widely in the U.S. than in some other countries, said administration officials, who also noted that nearly 9 out of 10 apprentices end up in jobs that pay average starting salaries of above $50,000 a year.

The apprenticeship grant program will begin in the fall and focus, in part, on broad partnerships that create programs in high-growth fields, such as information technology, health care and advanced manufacturing, as well as programs that provide college credit or industry-wide skills certification.

Obama earlier this year put Biden, who is a native of Scranton, Pa., in charge of a “soup-to-nuts” review of federal job-training programs, and set a July 30 deadline for his report.

House Republicans have complained that Biden’s effort is a waste of time because the Government Accountability Office, the auditing arm of Congress, has identified redundancies in a comprehensive review it completed in 2011. They have urged Obama to press his allies in the Democratic-controlled Senate to vote on a House-passed measure that proposes to streamline dozens of duplicative job training programs.

Thank you Associated Press.

Statements and Releases

Statement by the President

One year ago, the Senate introduced comprehensive bipartisan legislation to fix our broken immigration system. Both sides worked together to pass that bill with a strong bipartisan vote. The Senate’s commonsense agreement would grow the economy by $1.4 trillion and shrink the deficit by nearly $850 billion over the next two decades, while providing a tough but fair pathway to earned citizenship to bring 11 million undocumented individuals out of the shadows, modernizing our legal immigration system, continuing to strengthen border security, and holding employers accountable.  Simply put, it would boost our economy, strengthen our security, and live up to our most closely-held values as a society.

Unfortunately, Republicans in the House of Representatives have repeatedly failed to take action, seemingly preferring the status quo of a broken immigration system over meaningful reform. Instead of advancing commonsense reform and working to fix our immigration system, House Republicans have voted in favor of extreme measures like a punitive amendment to strip protections from “Dreamers”. The majority of Americans are ahead of House Republicans on this crucial issue and there is broad support for reform, including among Democrats and Republicans, labor and business, and faith and law enforcement leaders. We have a chance to strengthen our country while upholding our traditions as a nation of laws and a nation of immigrants, and I urge House Republicans to listen to the will of the American people and bring immigration reform to the House floor for a vote.

Pharrell’s New Song is ‘Here’ From the ‘Spider-Man 2′ Soundtrack

pharrell-williams-41

In keeping with the emotional tenor of Pharrell lately, here is his new song “Here” from The Amazing Spider-Man 2 soundtrack. It’s a sweeping ballad full of all the right things that will make the moment when Peter Parker kisses that lucky so-and-so extra emotional. The difference between a delusion and a dream? Explained. Where is Pharrell? Here. Why? He got “new GPS’s.” Is he happy? He’s trying.

This is the second Pharrell Williams contribution we’ve heard from the soundtrack, following the release of his song with Alicia Keys and Kendrick Lamar,“It’s On Again.”

Williams also co-wrote the score to the film with Hans Zimmer and ex-Smiths guitarists Johnny Marr. The soundtrack will be available April 22, and you can pre-order it now on Amazon

Read more and hear the song on Radio.com.

Young Men Debunk Negative Racial Stereotypes In “Suit and Tie” Video

Suit and Tie in the 217

Published on Feb 27, 2014

A Counter-Narrative on Black Male Students: At Central High School’s Black History Month Celebration, the Central and Centennial High School African-American Clubs released a joint video countering the negative images of young African-American males in the media. The students affirmed the following in a video highlighting the successes of young black males within the District:
• We are not gangsters and thugs.
• We are employees and volunteers.
• We are scholars.
• We are athletes.
“The negative stories told daily in the media and in our culture about our young African-American men tend to ignore their successes and don’t tell the full story about how young Black men are becoming leaders within our community schools,” said Central School Social Worker and African-American Club Sponsors Tiffany Gholson and Barbara Cook, who worked with the students on this effort. “In this video, our students reclaim the narrative of who they are and inspire other students to follow in their footsteps.” In our assembly, we addressed the State of the Youth and highlighted what Black students have overcome from a historical perspective. The assembly also highlighted how overcoming those obstacles has helped make America stronger and urged students of all backgrounds to carry the torch for future generations.
