Raise the Minimum Wage to $15 Per Hour

Published on May 29, 2014

Robert Reich shows why at $15 minimum wage would help lift millions of people out of poverty and help grow the economy. Call your Senator today at (202) 224-3121 and urge them to support raising the minimum wage to $15 per hour.

We celebrate Labor Day On Monday September 5th. Why?

This is life on $7.50 an hour

Published on Sep 15, 2015

Safiyyah Cotton makes $7.50 an hour working at McDonald’s. So how does she stretch her budget? With a lot of help from the government. Here’s a look inside the life and budget of a low-wage worker.

We were told as kids if we grow up, get an education and graduate high school, then go on to college, we’d make something of ourselves. Remember that lie?

Graduating high school guarantees nothing and who in their right mind wants to dig themselves a $100K hole of debt for a college education that will start your life in the red AND you MIGHT get a job after college? I said MIGHT get a job. You’re more likely to be moving BACK home with your mom & dad after spending 4 years at a college racking up debt and hangovers.

Instead of celebrating Labor Day AmeriKKKan style, try going to any local demonstration or protest rally in your area, to fight for the “Raise The Minimum Wage” issue. Fight For $15, because fighting for $15 is directly related to EVERYONE’S survival.

  1. Great post.

“We were told as kids if we grow up, get an education and graduate high school, then go on to college, we’d make something of ourselves. Remember that lie?”

A lie indeed. I have a college degree in addition to a college certificate in Business Management. I’ve completed multiple UNPAID internships at various art museums. I lost my museum job of four years in March and have since applied for over 250 jobs, and haven’t gotten an interview yet.

In America, hard work and a college education does not guarantee employment. There are too many factors at play when it comes to hiring, one of which being nepotism.
