Water poisoned and burial grounds destroyed! Help Jill and Ajamu Today
The Stein/Baraka campaign will not stand for this criminal behavior. The fossil fuel industry is going to hear our voices loud and clear.
While Obama was in China gathering more support for TPP, on Tuesday afternoon Jill and Ajamu joined more than 100 protesters, including members of the Standing Rock Sioux Tribe – to oppose the Dakota Access Pipeline.
Why were they protesting? Two reasons really.
One, because the pipeline will run underneath the Missouri River – and that’s the tribe’s main source of drinking water.
But secondly, and perhaps even more outrageous is that the oil company has been …
… bulldozing the sacred burial grounds of the tribe.
When the bulldozers began clearing the soil, hundreds of Native Americans from many different tribes came rushing to the construction site to protest the sacred grounds.
The company’s security forces attacked the Native People with dogs and pepper spray.
On Tuesday, Jill and Ajamu stood with the protesters and these brave people standing up for their right to clean water and their sacred indigenous burial grounds.
The Dakota Access Pipeline is a threat to both.
And think about the difference between how these people — fighting to protect their drinking water and sacred burial sites — were treated, as opposed to armed right-wingers claiming they have the right to claim public lands as their own private property.

Will you help us today as we fight for the rights of these First Nation brothers and sisters?
During the protest, Jill said:
“The state of North Dakota may charge me with vandalism for painting a bulldozer. Will they charge the oil company that bulldozed the sacred burial grounds of the Standing Rock Sioux?”
We call this criminal behavior out for what it is, because for years the fossil fuel industry has known that pipelines and fracking wells aredangerous and unstable. They’ve known.
Yet for the sake of money, they continued the destructive drilling and fracking. They continued putting profits over people.
Studies show that approximately 40% of all fracking wells drilled actually fail in some way or another. And where those pipes pass through an aquifer it often leads to the contamination of the drinking water for millions of people.
In the U.S. alone more than a thousand actions have been brought against the fossil fuel industry for drinking water contamination.
In every state where human rights violations like these occur, we’ve been fighting.
Will you stand with Jill and Ajamu as they protect the earth and the rights of Native People? By standing in the gap for them, Jill and Ajamu are standing strong for all of us, for our very survival.
Our platform puts people, peace, and the planet over profit – every time. It contains real world solutions such as:
